Norman Herbert (Chair)

Norman

I became the Chairperson for the Trust at our AGM in 2019. As someone who believes in the importance of lifelong learning, I am proud to hold this position and to promote the ideals of Betty Game’s legacy. As someone who undertook a Master’s Degree in Education with the Open University later on in life, I have first-hand experience of what it is like to return to learning years after leaving school and, like Betty, I found it life-enhancing. As a lecturer in Higher Education, I understand that undertaking graduate and postgraduate courses places tremendous demands upon learners, not least financial ones, which is why the Trust is here to help. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (Nelson Mandela).
